Liberal Media Uses Tragedy to Vilify Those Critical of the Current Administration

Although I am a Libertarian leaning Independent voter, I often visit news outlets such as CNN and MSNBC to sort of gauge and consider opposing viewpoints. I make it a point to read the comments section especially. I am horrified by what I am seeing concerning the tragedy that transpired at LAX.

The headline reads "Sources: Alleged Shooter Hated Government, New World Order", and goes on to make a case that is obviously meant to insinuate that those of us who are opposed to the 4th Amendment violating TSA, support the 2nd Amendment, and exercise our 1st Amendment rights to openly express our disagreement with current governmental policies are somehow cut from the same cloth as this obviously mentally ill man who opened fire in a crowded airport full of innocent civilians. There is no excuse for that behavior, and I can't see how any person of any political persuasion would condone his actions.

All that is not the worst part. It's clear the spin is working it's intended purpose. The commentary section is full of propagandist hate posts openly threatening to suppress the 1st and 2nd Amendment rights of "domestic terrorists" such as Christians, Tea Party Members, Republicans, and other Conservatives. While it does appear many of the most vicious posts come from what appears to be a troll, the fact that others are agreeing with and voting up this rhetoric is nauseating. I don't have a problem with disagreement, but I do have a problem with veiled threats of violence.

At this point, I am not sure how this country can be reconciled. We have, on one hand, roughly half the population willing to forego the Bill of Rights entirely to "keep them safe" and to further expand the Welfare State. On the other hand, we've got the other half who are extremely displeased with the government imposing upon their Constitutional rights, and confiscating of their wealth to help facilitate the push towards socialist policies. That is just scratching the surface without even considering social issues like gay marriage and abortion.

As for myself, I will never understand pushing one's own belief system upon another, or expecting another to provide for their every need. All I really want it to simply live freely as was intended by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights without government intrusion.

An Open Letter to My (D) Senator

Dear Senator,

I am a responsible gun owner. Myself and my brother were taught to shoot by my father when I was 12 years old. Hunting and target shooting have been a large part of our family heritage for many generations, and no one has ever been injured. I have also taught my own child to responsibly handle a firearm, not only for hunting, but God forbid, she ever need it to defend herself against an attacker.

Today, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced her bill to effectively outlaw semi-automatic firearms with ugly features. I vehemently oppose this bill.

Home invasions with multiple invaders have been rising nationwide. Placing a limitation on magazine size puts my family at risk. While someone using a firearm for offensive purposes has plenty of time to change magazines, that is not true of self-defense situations especially in the case of multiple invaders.

The AR-15 is an ideal firearm for home defense. They're lightweight, easy to operate, and have minimal recoil. The .223/5.56x45 round that most use has been shown in numerous studies to be the least likely bullet to pass through a house wall and injure someone outside of it. The round falls apart when it hits the dry wall or gypsum.

I view this bill as a direct threat to the personal safety of myself and my family. Passage this bill will put more families, more women, and more children at risk from criminals, thugs, and rapists.

I urge you to oppose this bill. As President Obama recently said, “If it saves the live of only one child, it is worth it.” He’s right but he just had the wrong context in mind.

Farley: ‘Severe’ Strain Of Flu Reaches Epidemic Proportions In New York City « CBS New York

Farley: ‘Severe’ Strain Of Flu Reaches Epidemic Proportions In New York City « CBS New York

As one comment pointed out - 19k cases are hardly an "epidemic" in a city of 8+ Mil people... Personally, I feel it's just another vaccination push. Before taking a flu shot, please research thimerosal, a preservative derived from mercury, which is in the shot. If you follow the link, you will see even the FDA mentions the dangers of it:
("Over the past several years, because of an increasing awareness of the theoretical potential for neurotoxicity of even low levels of organomercurials and because of the increased number of thimerosal containing vaccines that had been added to the infant immunization schedule, concerns about the use of thimerosal in vaccines and other products have been raised. Indeed, because of these concerns, the Food and Drug Administration has worked with, and continues to work with, vaccine manufacturers to reduce or eliminate thimerosal from vaccines.")

I Got a Dehydrator!

My brother came through and got me a dehydrator for Christmas! It's a Nesco FD-75A 700 watt unit.  This particular model has 5 trays included with 2 fruit roll inserts and 2 screens (which I'd like more of). It's a top mounted fan with 95-160 degree thermostat for a range of foods from herbs, to veggies and fruit and meats.

On the way home, I stopped into a Rural King, where, low and behold- I found 2 boxes of 2 additional trays on clearance for $10 (regularly $15 online!) and purchased both those, too! I've got a total of 9 now, full capacity is 12 trays.

As soon as I got home, I got to marinating some venison steak and mixed up some ground venison with the packets of "Original Flavor" jerky spice included in the box. I will be ordering more of the spice packets, it tastes exactly like my favorite store bought brand! It also has a good instructional manual with recipes in the box.

I can't wait to try more recipes and foods. It will definitely come in very handy this coming 2013 harvest season.

A Homestead for Christmas!

I mentioned a little about it in a YouTube I posted a few days ago, but... FINALLY! It appears I'm FINALLY going to be moving from the 'burbs to the country!

We've been looking on and off for the past several years. Our original intention was to buy raw land and build later, but we found a diamond in the rough on a deal too good to pass up thanks to my Mom! She happened upon it while browsing the internet. It's a 3 bdrm/1 bath foreclosure, and we'll have to go the rehab loan route to replace the roof (which we seem to have caught in the nick of time), and completely re-do the kitchen. The folks who were evicted took the kitchen sink, literally! Every cabinet, the sink, EVERYTHING in the kitchen (well, except the flooring, which is nearly new) was torn out. They had even tried removing the tiled back splash and ruined a portion of the drywall, which we will have to piece in. The pluses- brand new bathroom and hardwood floors...

BUT, the BEST part- it sits on 3 acres, and our nearest neighbor is about 1/4 mile up the road. We're surrounded by fields! We do have some yard work to do, though. New landscaping out front, tearing down a livestock fence, removal of a few dead trees, adding about 8 fruit/nut trees and tilling an acre for my garden. We've also got to do some rehab on the garage/barn and build animal shelters.

We were able to get this home for about 30% less than current finished appraisal value. Our monthly payments will be less than half than what we're paying to live in a suburban apartment right now. Closing is scheduled for mid-January (had to get estimates, holiday break, etc). I have no doubt this was an answer to prayers. (Especially considering we found a Bible in the basement when we went to view the house the first time!!!)

I'll talk more about specific improvements once we actually get working on the property. Some fun I intend on sharing includes: Building a Basement Root Cellar and Storage Room, Rehabbing a Garage/Barn, Building a Goat Stall, Building a Chicken Coup, and much more!

Hope everyone is having a joyous holiday season thus far!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas...

It was a lovely Thanksgiving Day here, followed by a cold Black Friday and first snow flurries of the season. We were blessed with an employer provided turkey again this year, which my Mother graciously cooked up along with the usual potatoes, stuffing, gravy... I also made up a batch of my "family famous" Deviled Eggs.We ate leftovers for a good 3 days! I'm now looking forward to Christmas ham...

I've only just begun shopping, but, as usual, we will not be going overboard. The aim is to become as completely debt free as possible... It's all fun and games until that credit card bill arrives in January! We set a budget for each person and stay within that limit. There are so many things I'd love to buy for others, but in my opinion, the best part of Christmas is spending it with my large extended family and friends. Everyone brings a dish to pass and lots of laughs. Good times.

I had intended to get the tree up this past Saturday, but got busy with other things. I need to get on that!

I may have some significant excellent news to share in the next few weeks if all goes accordingly! We've been saying our prayers, crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.

Latest Petition- Impeach Obama!

I'm all for petitioning the governmental leaders, but please, by all means, be sure you use correct spelling, grammar and official language when doing so. It completely degrades your argument upon face value to the point that most will simply stop reading, regardless of slight possibility it may contain real insight.
~ Atsila Kamama

The latest in a string of petitions filed by angry Americans on the Official White House website calls for the Impeachment of President Obama.

PETITION: We request that Obama be impeached for the following reasons

I took one look at this particular petition, and frankly, there are not enough *facepalm*'s available across the entire internet to account for this ridiculousness. Most simply, and anyone with any sort of basic knowledge of American government would understand this --- you do not petition the White House to impeach the President! You MUST petition Congress!

That said, this petition was written to fail from it's beginning. If you can get beyond the rudimentary grammar, the vague language used could easily and effectively be skirted and dismissed by anyone with a little debate experience and knowledge of current events, let alone federal lawyers. There is no way a lawmaker or member of Congress would take this petition seriously as written. Granted, they would laugh it off anyway, but you get the point.

Do I have questions about what happened in Libya? ABSOLUTELY. Do I want to lose the low cost, high coverage health insurance I already have for glorified Medicaid? HELL NO. Do I believe some of the current administration's Executive Orders shat upon our Constitutional rights? YES. But this is an example of how NOT to go about legitimately seeking answers from our, albeit corrupt, governmental leaders.
