Although I am a Libertarian leaning Independent voter, I often visit news outlets such as CNN and MSNBC to sort of gauge and consider opposing viewpoints. I make it a point to read the comments section especially. I am horrified by what I am seeing concerning the tragedy that transpired at LAX.
The headline reads "Sources: Alleged Shooter Hated Government, New World Order", and goes on to make a case that is obviously meant to insinuate that those of us who are opposed to the 4th Amendment violating TSA, support the 2nd Amendment, and exercise our 1st Amendment rights to openly express our disagreement with current governmental policies are somehow cut from the same cloth as this obviously mentally ill man who opened fire in a crowded airport full of innocent civilians. There is no excuse for that behavior, and I can't see how any person of any political persuasion would condone his actions.
All that is not the worst part. It's clear the spin is working it's intended purpose. The commentary section is full of propagandist hate posts openly threatening to suppress the 1st and 2nd Amendment rights of "domestic terrorists" such as Christians, Tea Party Members, Republicans, and other Conservatives. While it does appear many of the most vicious posts come from what appears to be a troll, the fact that others are agreeing with and voting up this rhetoric is nauseating. I don't have a problem with disagreement, but I do have a problem with veiled threats of violence.
At this point, I am not sure how this country can be reconciled. We have, on one hand, roughly half the population willing to forego the Bill of Rights entirely to "keep them safe" and to further expand the Welfare State. On the other hand, we've got the other half who are extremely displeased with the government imposing upon their Constitutional rights, and confiscating of their wealth to help facilitate the push towards socialist policies. That is just scratching the surface without even considering social issues like gay marriage and abortion.
As for myself, I will never understand pushing one's own belief system upon another, or expecting another to provide for their every need. All I really want it to simply live freely as was intended by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights without government intrusion.

An Open Letter to My (D) Senator
Dear Senator,
I am a responsible gun owner. Myself and my brother were taught to shoot by my father when I was 12 years old. Hunting and target shooting have been a large part of our family heritage for many generations, and no one has ever been injured. I have also taught my own child to responsibly handle a firearm, not only for hunting, but God forbid, she ever need it to defend herself against an attacker.
Today, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced her bill to effectively outlaw semi-automatic firearms with ugly features. I vehemently oppose this bill.
Home invasions with multiple invaders have been rising nationwide. Placing a limitation on magazine size puts my family at risk. While someone using a firearm for offensive purposes has plenty of time to change magazines, that is not true of self-defense situations especially in the case of multiple invaders.
The AR-15 is an ideal firearm for home defense. They're lightweight, easy to operate, and have minimal recoil. The .223/5.56x45 round that most use has been shown in numerous studies to be the least likely bullet to pass through a house wall and injure someone outside of it. The round falls apart when it hits the dry wall or gypsum.
I view this bill as a direct threat to the personal safety of myself and my family. Passage this bill will put more families, more women, and more children at risk from criminals, thugs, and rapists.
I urge you to oppose this bill. As President Obama recently said, “If it saves the live of only one child, it is worth it.” He’s right but he just had the wrong context in mind.

As one comment pointed out - 19k cases are hardly an "epidemic" in a city of 8+ Mil people... Personally, I feel it's just another vaccination push. Before taking a flu shot, please research thimerosal, a preservative derived from mercury, which is in the shot. If you follow the link, you will see even the FDA mentions the dangers of it:
("Over the past several years, because of an increasing awareness of the theoretical potential for neurotoxicity of even low levels of organomercurials and because of the increased number of thimerosal containing vaccines that had been added to the infant immunization schedule, concerns about the use of thimerosal in vaccines and other products have been raised. Indeed, because of these concerns, the Food and Drug Administration has worked with, and continues to work with, vaccine manufacturers to reduce or eliminate thimerosal from vaccines.")
